Agents & Classic Rock
Short note on my music taste in the era of coding agents
I find it curious how there is a definite correlation between my music tastes and increasing mental intensity of my engineering workflows. I’ve been listening to much more classic rock (Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, The Rolling Stones in particular), and even sometimes preffering proper instrumental classics. Prior art supports that slow-tempo, structurally predictable lyric-less music is much gentler on the brain.
Will future global music preferences be influenced by that dynamic? I’m in particularly would be interested to investigate how that shift differs between folks who have been engaging with a lot of agentic work and those who don’t! Media tropes suggest that music of the future will have a very particular sound profile, and it would be peculiar if it turns out to to be completely the opposite.
